The AKwarm Rating Program is used to perform a variety of residential energy rating services including a Home Energy Rating System (HERS) which includes an “AS-Is" and Post Improvement ratings, Building Energy Efficiency Standards or BEES Rating, a proposal from Plans Rating, and a weatherization rating.

The HERS procedure is as follows..

• First the “As-Is” rating is performed including an interview with the home owner to obtain information on their energy use and other data concerning the home.

• A series of observations and measurements are obtained that are necessary to make calculations and to identify potential measures for improvement.

• A series of calculations are made by the AKWarm software program to estimate current heating loads, and the cost of various improvements and their potential savings.

• The program will provide specific recommendations of measures and practices that you should take to reduce your energy use.

• When you have accomplished the improvements that you decide to make a “Post” rating is done to compare with the “As-Is” rating. This will determine your eligibility for reimbursement.
